From Bengeo Parish Magazine, December 1937

The Parochial Church Council met on Thursday, November 18th.  The Rector took the chair.  Present: Mesdames Clark, Norman, Purkiss-Ginn, Oliver; the Misses Campkin, Watts, Taylor, Major Temple; Messrs. Blakeley, Browne, Cadle, Clark, Jackson, Norris, Nicholls, Slessor, Simmonds and Townsend.  Before the meeting commenced the Council stood in silence in memory of Miss Brown, who was a member of the Council for some years.

Mr. Simmonds welcomed the Rector back, and expressed his pleasure on his improved health and hoped he would soon be quite well again.  Mr. Norris said he would like to associate himself with Mr. Simmonds’ remarks; this was greeted with applause.

It was reported  that the restoration of St. Leonard’s Church had commenced , and the response to the appeal had been very good ; the amount received was between £150 and £200.
