"Simple Simon" Shop Window

St. Andrew Street

Simple Simons

The paper goldfish and smiling sun in the window of the gift shop in St Andrew Street made this an attractive display in what was an example of a quirky local gift shop. Lots of small presents could be found here, small boxes, fans, soft toys, including Snoopy, and small games, and cards. Open during the 1970s and 1980s, the shop then closed. Who owned the shop or why it closed or the exact dates would be of interest. Now the party costume shop includes that unit.

  • I lived in Hertford from 1976 to 1992, I remember this shop fondly and walked past it daily on my way to millmead school. I bought a miniature sliding pencil case box from here with some Christmas money.
