The Captain , JE Booth, returned to the school with a strong X1 every year thereafter ( certainly until at least 1972 and maybe beyond) to play the School. For many schoolboys in the 1stX1, being invited to the John of Gaunt pub by John Booth after the match was every bit as enjoyable as the cricket itself, where Richard Hodder would entertain with abundant stories of Mr Gander, Mr Bennett and Mr Jack. Priceless
