Baron Michael Dobbs

Author of the House of Cards trilogy

Baron Michael Dobbs is a conservative politician and political
novelist who wrote, amongst other things, a political trilogy which was made
into a television series called The House of Cards, famous for the phrase “You may say that but I can’t possibly comment”.

House of Cards is a 1990 British political thriller television drama serial in four episodes, set after the end of Margaret Thatcher‘s tenure as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. It was televised by the BBC from 18 November to 9 December 1990, to critical and popular acclaim.

Michael Dobbs was born in Cheshunt and once lived in New Road, Broxbourne. He was educated at Hertford Grammar School, Cheshunt Grammar School, and Christ Church, Oxford.
