Kate Breton, 48, from Horley, Surrey was a ward matron.  Kate who was the daughter of Henry and Catherine, spent much of her early life in West Malling where her mother was born. In 1891 Henry who was born in Worplesdon near Guildford, Surrey, was a solicitor’s clerk in West Malling.  Kate, the eldest child, was 28 and living in the house of Selby Norton a general practitioner.  By 1901 Kate was already a ward matron at Christ’s Hospital.

There seems to have been no ward maid on the night of the census.
