Mildred Biddell, 43 from Orsett, Essex was a ward matron.  Mildred was the daughter of George and Fanny Biddell.  Mildred doea not appear in the 1901 census. In 1891 Mildred was an assistant teacher of English at a school run by Emily, 61, and Harriet Deacon, 57, in Kensington, London.  In 1881 Mildred was at home with eleven other children and being taught by Ellen M. Ransome, 21, a governess, from Rochester, Kent. George was then 53, a land agent and Superintendent registrar and Fanny was 42.

Elizabeth Wilkinson, 25, from Hoddesdon was a ward maid. She was the daughter of William and Hannah Wilkinson. In 1891 the family was living in Burford Road, Ware where William, 29, was a builder’s labourer. In 1901 Elizabeth was working as a domestic servant working for Charles W. Young, 27, who was a nurseryman and his wife, Jane M., 21, at Valley Marsh Nursery, Essex Road, Hoddesdon Rural.
