Note 1. Lawrence Carter and his wife Alice, parents of Norah Craine, cannot be found in the 1911 census, so perhaps they have returned to India where Lawrence was born.
Note 2. In the 1901 census Florence Kathleen Lakeman was 3 months old living with James Saunders, 50, a decorator; Emily, 40, his wife and Gladys E., their 12 years old daughter. Emily was a sick nurse, so perhaps she had come across the baby through her work and taken Florence in.
Note 3. Beatrice Maud Tuthill, then 40, married Walter John Clist, 47, in 1907 and they were living in 1911 in Wandsworth where John was a bookseller and newsagent. Also living with them was Beatrice’s other daughter Evelyn May Most Tuthill, 11, who was at school. Evelyn Villiers Tuthill married Muad Henwood in Leicestershire in 1895. Whether this is the same Maud cannot be established as Evelyn Villiers does not appear in other censuses.
