The Hertford Baptist church congregation have in a short few months celebrated the arrival and induction of two new pastors. The church has seen many changes in leadership over the past few years and it is an exciting time to see the new pastors settling in and finding their feet.

Induction of Pastor David Lockwood

Pastor David Lockwood was introduced to the church members in the early summer of 2009. He was accepted and offered employment from September 2009 which he duly accepted. An induction service was carried out on the evening of the 20th of September by Rev. Stephen Copson, General Secretary of the Central Baptist Association. The church was full and included, along with the usual congregation, members of various church bodies and the Hertford community. The service was preceded by a fellowship tea and had an air thanksgiving and celebration for the changes in the church.

Andy King,  ’youth and children’s pastor’

The new year of 2010 saw the introduction of another figure, Andy King, following a special church meeting on October 13th 2009 when an ‘overwhelming majority’ voted for his employment. He is to take up the post of ‘Youth and children’s pastor’ in the church after working for the last ten years in Christian youth ministry in Brighton and the Tor-bay area.

A new manse

Andy has a wife, Esther, and four children for whom the church has acquired a new manse. Through the provision of god £150,000 was raised for the house and it has been acquired as another property of the church. It was also though the work of many generous volunteers that the house was re-decorated and made hospitable for the family’s arrival in January 2010. Work was tough and included rewiring, painting and the installation of a new kitchen.
