My First Darts Season in Years – 2022

Anthony Powell

This has been my first darts season for many years. In fact, over fifty years ago was the last time playing as a coming-on 21-year-old for my local pub, the Harts Horns in Hornsmill, Hertford.

But let’s get back to today, 2022, that is. I’ve just had a season playing for the Bengeo Blazers, the darts team of the Bengeo Club to be precise, at the ripe old age of 71 years. I really surprised myself the way I’ve played – well, with arthritis, asthma and even problems with my sight. I was told I have cataracts in both eyes recently when I visited my opticians in Hertford. So taking all that into account I think I’ve done exceptionally well. Also to be told that next season I will still be required to play for the Blazers is of course an added bonus in itself. Whether I will play for the team every week remains to be seen, however. But first up before that is the Summer League which I hope to be playing in.

A second team, or should I say our first team, has been set up due to having too many players in our squad this season, calling themselves Bengeo Bullys by all accounts. The two teams will play in the Summer League and then go on to play in the Winter League for season 2022-2023.
