In the 1964 season whilst living in the Hornsmill area of Hertford I went to see a Hertford and District League Cup Final, I believe it may have been a division two or three final, not quite sure. However, what I do know is it was between Herts Training School who were at the time in Chapmore End the other side of Bengeo and their opponents were Braughing Rovers, who of course came from Braughing Herts.
It was a high scoring game with Herts Training School the winners by five goals to four goals. I was at that time just thirteen and a half years old. It was the only cup final I can recall being played on a Saturday night or early Saturday night as Hertford Town football club had no floodlights back then. I believe, however it may have been the case that this final was played on FA Cup Final day that year and that may have been the reason for a Saturday night or early Saturday night final. Long time ago now, Herts Training School is no longer there anymore and as for Braughing Rovers I’m not certain if they run a team today or not.
