John Carrington was a farmer who lived at Bacons Farm from 1726 – 1810. He was also the local chief constable, overseer of the poor and a churchwarden at St Andrew’s Church, Bramfield.
John wrote a diary which has been used by the Society to create a number of evenings which have told part of the story of his life.
This photograph was taken on the first of these evenings held at Bramfield Church.
Keith Morby, seated, was John Carrington and Stuart Wright played his eldest son, Jack, who was landlord of “The Rose and Crown” at Tewin.

Brian, John Carrington’s diary has been transcribed and published by Hertfordshire Record Publications. The first volume is available at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies, County Hall.
