My cousin Richard George ( sitting in the front row) followed in his father’s footsteps, Dickie George, going to Hertford GS. Similarly, with my two brothers Christopher and David, we followed our father, Robert Surridge, to the grammar school. And Eric Riddle who was captain of the 1stX1 , followed his father Peter. The ageing teachers were the same it seemed and thanks to their great longevity, they were always reminding us we had a lot to live up to.
Recognise several of this team, including Hugh Emery, Andy Blay, Malcolm Chapman and (of course) my older brother Dave Robinson. The photographer, incidentally, was a member of the extended Blake family who lived at various addresses in Queens Road and Hagsdell Road, Hertford.
